Pets Locally helps UK pet owners find trusted local services: dog groomers, dog walkers, sitters, boarding kennels, catteries and pet shops. You search by your town and the service you need, and every listing shows what the business offers, where it covers and what other owners have said.

We are independent. We are not owned by any chain, franchise or single provider, and businesses cannot buy their way into a top spot in our guides or reviews. Small pet businesses can claim a free listing or upgrade for more visibility, but paying us does not change how we describe a service or what owners report about it.

How we research

Our guides and cost pages are written by the Pets Locally editorial team. We check listings against the business’s own details, public records and what owners tell us, and we flag a listing as checked only once we have confirmed it covers the area it claims to.

For pricing and advice, we use primary sources: the business’s published rates where available, owner submissions, and recognised UK bodies such as the City and Guilds groomer qualifications, the Pet Industry Federation, and licensing rules under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018, which cover boarding, day care and home boarding. Any figure we quote carries the date and the source so you can judge how current it is.

We do not invent named experts or fake credentials. Where you see advice on this site, it comes from the Pets Locally editorial team drawing on those sources, not from a made-up specialist.

Editorial standards

We write plainly and try to be specific rather than vague. Costs are given as ranges with the factors that move them, not single tidy numbers. If we get something wrong, tell us and we will correct it and note that we did. Reviews come from real owners, and we remove ones we have good reason to believe are fake or planted.
