Dogs are pregnant for about 63 days on average, though a healthy litter can arrive anywhere from 58 to 68 days after mating. Enter the date your dog was mated and this calculator works out her due date, how long is left, and the dates of the key pregnancy milestones so you know when to book a scan and when to start watching for labour.

This is a guide, not a diagnosis. Confirm the pregnancy with your vet: an ultrasound scan from around day 25 to 30 shows heartbeats, and an X-ray from about day 45 can count the puppies so you know how many to expect. A litter that has not arrived by day 68, or a bitch who seems unwell, strains for over an hour without producing a puppy, or has a dark green discharge before the first pup, needs a vet the same day.
